In our search for authentic bleu, we unfortunately noticed that there was hardly any production of Woad in the region. We cropped our very first harvest in 2014, but not without difficulties!
Thereafter, we cultivated in 2015 and 2016 a field of 3 hectares dedicated to the dyeing Woad (Isatis Tinctoria). This allowed us to develop the production and the extraction in the pigment extraction.
A natural method of extraction without any chemical products to replace the « coques »…
The method from the 13th century by fermentation the leaf, manufacturing of Woad balls « coques », grinding and fermentation until obtaining the woad ball is not viable today. However, our know-how and our control of the extraction allow us to treat (with no chemical products) all our harvest in the pigment extraction place which you can visit.
